According to OrphanCare Foundation, Noraini Hashim, out of the 1,075 babies that were dumped, only about 40% were alive while the rest were found dead.
Rather than creating, supporting and funding options that keep vulnerable children in orphanages we need solutions that keep children and families together.
Your participation in Crafity Charity Workshop means a lot! 35% of all fees collected (after deduction for material fees and running cost) will be channelled to our chosen beneficiary charity – OrphanCare Foundation.
There are an estimated 64,000 children in Malaysia living in institutions because they are poor, disabled, mentally challenged or for other medical and social reasons. Many newborns continue to be abandoned. OrphanCare is a not-for-profit foundation who works to give children who are in institutions and unplanned newborn babies whose lives are at risk the opportunity to grow up in the care of a loving family.
With support from the Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development and its partners, OrphanCare is implementing a process called ‘Deinstitutionalisation’ to help children be assimilated into families, get access to education, quality health care and the support and protection of their communities.
OrphanCare aims to end institutionalisation of children by transitioning them into family and community based care via a number of efforts. To read more about OrphanCare Foundation, you may log on to www.orphancare.org.my .
